How I set up my home office for maximum creativity and productivity

I’ve settled into my new home and moved the furniture around in my office enough that I’m finally ready to share how I set up my home office for maximum creativity and productivity. Photographed by the lovely Bailey Page Photos.

The whiteboard wall is one of the best parts of my office. I love sketching out ideas and writing to do lists on the wall so that I also have visual reminders as I work. I used 3 of these whiteboard panels from Home Depot but you can also use these from Lowes. I hung each board with 6-8 command strips and haven't had any issues! When I moved from my rental last year I simply pulled the boards off, removed and replaced the command strips before hanging them up in my new office space.

Having a bookshelf with inspiring catalogues, art supplies, and anythingI may need within reach allows me to keep working and gather what I need without leaving my flow state. A wool rug adds a pop of color while its tight weave allows me to roll freely in my chair as I work on what I need.

On my desk I keep a few books that I've recently read. Highlighted quotes and statistics from some of these books will be used to create new infographic series' for the blog and social media. I also have Gretchen Ruben's Muse Machine which is a box of vague questions that can help you look at a problem differently or think of creative ideas when you're feeling "stuck" or uninspired.

My house is filled with art but some of my favorite pieces are in my office where I enjoy them frequently. For example this series by Taylor Cox which she custom painted to include me in 3 seasons, hiking, skiing, and laying on the beach.

I’ve been trying to find small ways to bring color and joy into my day. My most recent obsession is this Baggu laptop case.

I’d love to learn more about your office favorites, below.
