Goal Tracking

It may come as a surprise to no one that I love New Year goals. (Read goals, not necessarily resolutions) I began this practice in 19 after I was inspired by a friend to create a “19 in 2019” goal list. After a depressing “20 in 2020” list I decided to evolve some of the ways that I track my goals.

There’s nothing wrong with starting off with a traditional goal list where you cross off goals as you accomplish them. I recommend hanging it somewhere that you’ll see it regularly. I hang mine in my closet so that each morning when I get ready I’m reminded of the goals that I am working towards.

A bubble goal list - we love little dopamine hits to get us through the day, week, month, year.. and in this form of goal tracking you get that each time you fill in one of the bubbles. I learned this practice from Becca and Olivia at Bad on Paper who use the bubbles to track words written for their novels.

Lastly, if you’re looking for a slightly more fun way to track your goals you could create a 2024 Bingo board. This does require 25 goals (which is a lot!) but it creates more space to mix in some fun goals. For me this included an excuse to get a facial and /or a massage which I’ve been craving.

Memorializing Goals

This year I hosted a “Goals Gathering” with some of my friends. A low-key party with drinks and snacks to enjoy while we created vision boards for our new year. It was such a fun way to check in with friends, feel inspired and gather with a purpose. As someone whose social battery drains quickly I enjoyed having an activity to gather around with friends.

Cheers to 2024 and good luck with your goals!
